Putin Attends Russia-Central Asia Summit
(MENAFN) Russian President Vladimir Putin participated in the second Russia-Central Asia summit held on Thursday in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan.
During the gathering, the attending leaders committed to reinforcing economic unity, boosting collaboration in the fields of energy and infrastructure, and improving coordination on matters of regional security.
The summit assembled the heads of state from the former Soviet republics—Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan—alongside Russia.
The primary focus of the discussions was on enhancing cooperation in sectors such as commerce, banking, transportation, and ecological stewardship.
A concluding declaration, along with a Joint Action Plan for 2025–2027, was approved to promote regional collaboration across diverse areas.
Putin affirmed that Russia is dedicated to intensifying its “strategic partnership and alliance” with Central Asian nations, while also developing “mutually beneficial political, economic, and humanitarian ties.”
He highlighted that Russia's commercial exchange with the five Central Asian countries exceeded $45 billion over the past year, calling it a “strong result” and noting the “significant potential for further growth.”
Russia’s total investment in the area has gone beyond $20 billion, with approximately 25,000 enterprises operating using Russian financial support.
“Industrial cooperation is expanding dynamically. With Russia’s participation, industrial parks, trading houses, and major projects are being implemented in the automotive, agricultural machinery, and energy sectors,” Putin stated.
